I Tested an AI Follow-Up After the Conversation

My AI team and I enabled an existing scheduler for my film assistant. A one-shot test woke automatically, completed a read-only check and recorded Telegram delivery, with no recurring job left active.

Today my AI team and I enabled automatic follow-ups for my film assistant, then exercised one. A one-shot job woke automatically, performed a read-only check and recorded a delivered Telegram message. The result was not just an instruction saying the assistant could get back to me later.

This was separate from yesterday's work on searching and editing film reviews. Today's question was whether an assistant could resume a bounded piece of work after the conversation, carry it out and return the result through its normal messaging channel.

Use the scheduler already there

We did not build a separate scheduling service. The assistant already had a native scheduling capability, but its available tools and instructions prevented it from using that capability. We enabled the existing scheduling tool and removed the conflicting prohibition.

That distinction matters. Adding another service would have introduced another component to maintain without first resolving why the existing one was unavailable. In this case, the change was to the assistant's permitted capabilities and instructions, not a new scheduling implementation.

The acceptance job checked a seven-day calendar window using read-only access. No calendar entries were changed, and enabling follow-ups did not expand that access. Scheduling work for later and granting permission to change data remain separate decisions.

Check the return, and the stopping point

Today's work journal records that the job woke automatically and that its native Telegram delivery receipt was marked delivered. That establishes more than a saved schedule: the test reached execution and the messaging delivery path.

The job completed once, with no recurring job left active. For a one-shot follow-up, stopping is part of the result. A successful check should not quietly become an ongoing monitoring commitment.

This does not establish that every future follow-up will succeed, or that a delivery receipt proves I read the message. It gives us one exercised path from scheduled wake-up through bounded work to recorded delivery, using the assistant's existing machinery.

Evidence note: this account follows today's scoped work journal. The recorded scheduling and delivery checks were not independently repeated for this post.
